Favorite Rides:

  • Almost anything on the American River Bike Trail (we’re so lucky to have this resource!)
  • Indian Hill Loop and it’s variants – Baxter Grade, Ridge Road
  • Rescue Me! is one my all-time favorites. Short. Good amount of climbing. And back it time to get other stuff done!

I started cycling while in college at UC Davis (I’ll let you guess what year) when I sold my car and spent all the money I received for the car on a decent bike. Over the years, I’ve ridden the Davis Double Century and the Seattle to Portland rides a half-dozen times each. Almost all of my riding before Cycle Folsom was either by myself, or with a small group of other crazies.

Even after many years of riding experience, my cycling ability has improved significantly since I began riding with Cycle Folsom. Etiquette, group riding skills, safety and performance are all areas where I believe my abilities have improved. The “fun” factor is way up since I began riding with the club too! The club members and ride leaders are collaborative, cooperative and supportive in providing an enjoyable, safe and challenging ride experience. As a ride leader, I strive to post and lead rides that others can enjoy as much as I do!

In 2012, I rode the largest number of miles in a single calendar year that I have ever ridden – over 5,000. Going forward, I have no specific numerical goals for cycling, other than I’m going to keep riding. The last couple of years we’ve hosted the Tuesday–Thursday morning Folsom Loop rides through most of the spring, summer and fall. We’ll keep that going in 2013. I’m also hoping to do several organized events in the 1st half of 2013: Chico Wildflower Century-April 28, Wine Country Century-May 4, Davis Double Century-May 18 (??), The Rex Ride- June 9…

See you on the road!
