Personal Experience
- Open Letter to Kinetic Cycles
To Bruce, Mark, Rich, Ryan and all of the staff at Kinetic Cycles:
Apparently, there is no limit to what you guys are willing to
do when it comes to serving your customers. My experience in this regard was way
beyond all expectations and I couldn’t be happier with the end result. As the founder
of a cycling club in Folsom I need to be on the road, leading rides and helping
others achieve their cycling goals. Having destroyed my Specialized Allez while driving into my garage with it mounted to the roof top rack of my SUV, I was
suddenly in a difficult situation without a bike to
ride just as the riding season
was getting into full swing.
I might have gone to any bike store and purchased a bike out
of inventory, but I’ve developed a fondness for specific products and configuration
combinations that aren’t offered “off-the-shelf”. With your assistance I was
able to piece together a Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL (with the SRAM Red compact
component group and Mavic Ksyrium ES wheels) that weighed-in a few grams over 15
pounds with the pedals on.
Rich’s insight into equipment, in particular brake calipers
and handle bars, helped me to avoid what would likely have been poor decisions in
light of the fact that what I did buy fits me like a glove (and saved me a few dollars).
Ryan was indispensable to the effort, making certain that the special order parts
I wanted were of the correct models and sizes. Once the bike was built, Bruce got
me up on the trainer and dialed in the fit of the bike, it was so perfect that I
haven’t had to make a single fitment adjustment and instantly felt more comfortable
on it than I did on the bike I’d been riding for the previous five years…unbelievable.
Not only did I get exactly what I wanted, but your entire team
stayed after hours on a Friday night to build the bike, get it professionally and
properly fitted to me, and make certain that on Saturday morning I was ready to
show off the new “sled” and lead the group ride.
A week (and a few hundred miles) later, I can report that my
Tarmac has been engaged in a “scorched earth” campaign. It being five pounds lighter,
and significantly stiffer than my five year old Allez, I find myself riding effortlessly
in the lead group, winning my share of the climbs and more unusually, winning at
the city limit line on occasion - which until now has been quite uncommon for me.
I couldn’t be happier!
Kinetic Cycles – you guys rock!!
